The Formula for Fixed Charge Coverage
While simple DSCR only compares EBITDA to principal and interest, professional lenders use the comprehensive Fixed Charge Coverage Ratio:
FCCR = (EBITDA – Unfinanced Capex – Cash Taxes) / (Mandatory Debt Principal + Cash Interest)
A ratio of 1.00x means the business generates exactly enough cash to meet debt obligations with zero cushion. Pinnacle requires a baseline model of 1.25x to 1.40x under normalized assumptions.
